Comparing Light Emitting Diodes and Incandescent Light Bulbs
The primary advantage of converting incandescent lighting to light emitting diodes (LEDs) is the considerable reduction in power consumption. LEDs use a fraction of the power used by incandescent bulbs.
When comparing LED lighting to a regular incandescent filament lamp there are a couple of issues to consider. The first is that for general lighting, a single LED is normally not quite as bright as an incandescent lamp. This is normally solved by grouping several LEDs together to reach the desired light output while still consuming far less power than equivalent incandescent lighting. For example, in an LED traffic signal, the number and positioning of numerous singular LEDs provides a unit light output far greater and with far better overall performance than the traditional incandescent light bulb -- and with considerably less power consumption.
Fresh Aero FlightLights utilize the multiple LED approach to produce a single high intensity light source that far surpasses the output of the typical 12 volt incandescent light bulbs in aircraft. And this is achieved with a fraction of the power required for the equivalent incandescent light bulb.
- State of the art LED solid state lighting in blue, red green and white
- When you go with LED technology, you go green. LEDs sip a fraction of the power of other forms of lighting.
- Virtually no heat build-up. Unlike most lighting products , practically all electrical energy is converted into light.
- Very long life cycle. LEDs, when used correctly, have an approximate life span of 60,000 to 100,000 hour - about 6 to 11 years of continuous on use.
- Virtually vibration proof
- Many times brighter than most original cockpit/cabin lighting with significantly less power consumption. Just bright, clean and even light - with no halos, gaps or weak spots. Makes reading instruments, maps and other printed material a joy!
